Honorable Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Shri Pradesh Rajshekar Reddy has inaugurated the Guthpa Lift Irrigation Scheme which has been successfully completed and implemented by Kirloskar Brothers Limited (KBL), the largest pump manufacturer & turnkey contractor in India . "Guthpa Lift Irrigation Scheme" was conceived to irrigate 15700 hectares by lift cum irrigation canal. The scheme will provide immediate relief to the drought prone areas near Nandipet Mandal and Nizamabad district of Andhra Pradesh.
The Guthpa Lift Irrigation Scheme work was entrusted to Joint Venture of M/s. Koya and Company constructions private Ltd., M/s. Indian Hume Pipe Company Limited, M/s. Bhooratanam Construction Company private limited, M/s. Taher Ali Industries and Projects Private Limited and M/s. Kirloskar Brothers Ltd. wherein KBL is responsible for complete System Engineering including Design, Engineering, Supply, Installation, Testing and Commissioning of Electro-Mechanical package. The Guthpa Lift Irrigation Scheme is envisaged to lift 15.6 cumecs water from the foreshore of Sri Rama Sagar Project and will bring 38700 acres of land under irrigation. The scheme will thus help in bringing relief to the drought-affected people of Ummed Village , Nandipet Mandal, Nizamabad.
On the occasion Mr. Pattewar, Vice President, KBL, said, "We have been constantly partnering with the people and government of Andhra Pradesh to provide innovative and cost effective solutions. It has been our constant endower to enable the farmers to make the state the ' Annapurna ' of the country".
Recently KBL successfully completed the Engineering, Procurement and Construction Contract of Thota Venkatachalam Pushkara Lift Irrigation Project and the the contract of design to commissioning of pumping system for the world's 2nd highest & India 's highest lift irrigation project J.Chokka Rao ( Devadula ) Godavari Lift Irrigation Scheme – Phase I. The Honorable UPA President Smt. Sonia Gandhi inaugurated both the projects.
